The Importance of Exercise

The Importance of Exercise – May 15th 2013

When the word exercise appears, it sometimes gets received in a bad light. I believe it is only a matter of perception. Exercise can come in many different forms. Typically we think about going to the gym, but in reality exercise can be accomplished in different forms.

When I talk with my clients about feeling better from sore muscles and those nagging aches and pains I like to approach the topic of exercise. In my experience, and research backs me up when I say that exercise can do wonders to relieve tension and cure regular muscle soreness.

One form of exercise that I always advocate is walking. Walking is an easy, affordable and impactful form of exercise. While most people believe they walk everyday, which is true, sometimes the walking people do is not enough to gain any benefits. Walking needs to done at least 10 minutes at a time. So when we walk around the mall for an hour doesn’t count, because generally shopping entails stopping and looking for an item you wish to purchase. Therefore it is a good idea to intentionally get out of the house and go for a walk that will take you at least 10 minutes once a day.

How you achieve this is up to you. Walking with a friend, walking a dog, walking to the store, etc. The more you walk, the better the results.
